SPECIAL EVENT CE CREDIT:
Dr. Laurie Houston
Anthropogenic climate change can no longer be denied; globally, healthcare contributes roughly 4.6% to total global greenhouse gas emissions annually. All sectors of society need to reevaluate their methods of operation to mitigate these emissions if we are to slow down global warming and the consequences thereof. This presentation will offer suggestions as to how you can make your dental practice more sustainable, broken down into prevention, supply chain, transport, buildings and energy, drugs and devices, natural systems, food, and most importantly, leadership.
Dr. Laurie Houston graduated from the University of Toronto Faculty of Dentistry in 1985 and ran her own practice in Bracebridge until 2012. She is the Chair of the Environmental Sustainability Working Group of the ODA and a Director on the Board. Dr. Houston is the dental lead for Partnerships for Environmental Action by Clinicians and Communities for Healthcare Facilities www.peachhealthontario.com. Laurie has founded CanHelp Through HealthCare, a registered charity that provides free dental care to international communities in need. She resides in Gravenhurst on beautiful Lake Muskoka with her spouse and her dog Georgie.

Holistic Infection Control
Challenging perspective, changing practice.
Holistic infection control refers to a comprehensive and integrated approach to preventing and controlling infections. It encompasses not just the use of personal protective equipment and disinfectants, but also the evaluation and management of the entire healthcare environment. We consider the design and layout of facilities, the handling of hazardous chemistry, documentation, training and personal wellbeing of healthcare workers.
Our program endeavours to share new perspectives on the complex relationships between people, microbes and our environment.
Ryan Swift is the Vice President of Micrylium Laboratories Inc. He is a seasoned product development and regulatory professional with over 20 years of experience in the field. He has worked closely with numerous dental manufacturers and distributors to secure Health Canada (DIN, GMP, GLP), FDA, and ISO registrations for their devices and establishments. CE CREDIT COURSE - THE MANY RULES OF DENTAL ASEPSIS - STANDARDS, DOCUMENTATION AND IMPLEMENTATION.
Time: 3:00p.m. - 4:00p.m.
Where: Vancouver, ON
A review of the current standards for infection control in Dentistry.
The rules and guidance are not all contained in a single document.
There are International , National, Regional and Municipal guidance materials.
There are institutions that regulate us like ( RCDSO ), provincial organizations (IPAC) and municipal officers ( Public Health ).
To comply and be fully protected we need to understand all of them and include them in our policies.
We start with the concept of managing “external documents” for the regional requirement.
Then we explore the implementation of specific policy within the practice.
We complete the program with the concept of holistic hygiene and professional choice.
Our goal is to ensure the practitioner is well informed and prepared.
